Mason Barndt scored 65 goals this spring as a junior attackman at Boyertown, but he takes pride more in his ability to make his teammates better.

“My strengths include my stick handling skills; specifically my ability to use both hands fluidly, and also my complete dedication to my teammates and the game,” he said.

Barndt is a Player to Watch for Friday’s Victory Events Beast of the East Showcase. The event is being held at MSI Sports Village in Aston, PA, and will feature over 170 elite players. Check-in begins at 11 a.m.

There are limited spots open for all positions except goalie (sold out) and is open for boys in the classes of 2024, 2025, and 2026. The registration link is https://victoryeventseries.leagueapps.com/events/3275413-beast-of-the-east-showcase-2023

More than 60 college coaches from over 50 schools are expected to attend. The registration price includes a custom reversible jersey, 3 showcase games, and game film. Also, game film will be sent to all D1 and D2 programs and players receive a free SportsRecruits profile.

Barndt was a First-Team Pioneer Athletic Conference pick this year when he helped lead Boyertown to a 14-5 season that included a nine-game win streak to open the year and a berth in the PAC tournament. He posted 20 assists for 85 points.

“My goal for the showcase is to put myself out there for college coaches to see my skills,” said Barndt, who plays club for Black Bear. “I am looking to see what opportunities are available.

“This summer I am working to be more dynamic and continue to get everyone in the offense involved by stepping up to be a leader.”

Barndt is open to all levels of college lacrosse.

“I am currently touring different colleges in order to find a good fit,” he said. “I am open to playing any division at this time and am planning on majoring in business.”

Barndt believes his success – and Boyertown’s team success – will carry over.

“This spring my high school team had a strong season,” he said. “The season increased my confidence level and is fueling my determination to achieve more.”
