WEST CHESTER, PA – Nick Pomajevich believes he found a balance between scoring and passing when dodging during Friday’s Victory Events Beast of the East Showcase at Maple Zone in Aston.

“I think our team was playing unselfishly and we had great coaches at the showcase,” said the 2023 midfielder from Dukes Elite and Allentown Central Catholic. “I was dodging well from the midfield, coming down and looking to feed attackman or other middies cutting.

“I was dodging to score and dodging to feed, getting a healthy balance of both. I was not being selfish, but trying to get teammates involved any way I could.”

Pomajevich was successful enough in feeding and scoring to be named the Beast of the East as the showcase MVP. He credited his team coaches and teammates.

“I was dodging downhill and getting really high before accelerating,” said Pomajevich, who had 40 goals and helped ACC win the East Penn Conference and District 11 2A titles and reach the PIAA semifinals this spring. “Our team was great and our coaches, an assistant at Princeton and a Wagner assistant told me to be efficient – ‘don’t just look to score and to get other guys involved’ and that’s what I did.”

Pomajevich said his entire team showed a rare talent during the showcase.

“Our coaches always joked that we were the best riding team,” he said. “We rode really hard and it was fun to see at a showcase; don’t see that usually.”

Sean Monaghan, 2024 MF/ATT, Brotherhood, Ramapo High School, NJ

“I started out slow, I was not feeling well because it was so hot, but then I found my groove and went with it. I tried to make some plays and had a few good dodges and I tried to get open for teammates to pass. I think my best attributes are my dodging and making plays for teammates while creating space throughout the field. I think I also have a very good eye – I know when the defense is sliding and I can tell when I may be in trouble or will be doubled. I like to play ahead of the game and know what’s coming so I can stay away from trouble before it happens. One thing I took away from the event was to be patient; I find myself trying to rush passes or shots. You have to wait for your time to come.”

Dillon DiBattista, 2024 ATT, Team 11, Cardinal O’Hara High School, PA

“I was able to get good shots and find the shorty so I could dodge on them. Also, I was able to rip through the defense well, in order to create an open shot and find the net. My best attributes are using my body, in order to create good shots, and that I can dodge from anywhere on the field. The event taught me that teamwork and good chemistry can win games.”

William Harris, 2023 ATT, Dukes Elite, Virginia Episcopal School, VA (Lynn commit)

“I signed up before I committed, but I thought it was be good to get extra reps and play with some fun guys with really good coaching. Coaches were telling me to keep playing fast and to keep my head up and feet moving. I know I still have to get bigger, faster and stronger, and work on my outside shooting.”
